Occupy Boston:
Deadline at Dewey Square

Scenes from the Occupy Boston campsite at Dewey Square, which campers were supposed to vacate by midnight December 9. Many campers vacated before the deadline, though some continued to stay the next day. A little after midnight, police made it known there would be no forced removal that night. Campers and supporters responded with a mixture of celebration and protest, with Atlantic Avenue closed to traffic. Among the performers were musicians from The Second Line Social Aid Pleasure Society Brass Band and Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band.
